Hotel la Residencia

We were invited to design the bespoke furniture for La Residencia- Belmond’s sanctuary in Deià and a landmark for our little village. The commission moved through the property,- from the stone-clad restaurants to the shaded edges of the pool and the quiet of the spa. Every piece was drawn for its setting, meant to live outdoors, to take on sun and salt and still feel like it had always been there.

Some pieces have already become part of the hotel’s language. “The Cigar”- an iconic straw cabana with a curved canopy,- sits at the pool’s edge. Its proportions echo the cypresses that stand behind it, and from a distance it looks like it’s been there for decades. The surroundings look like a “Fresco”, its cinematic.

King-size sun loungers in forged iron are paired with small stone tables,- layouts made for slow mornings and conversations that drift into the afternoon. Hand painted cestas, monogrammed towels. Upholstery is striped in colours that feel familiar here,-  the same pattern found on old awnings, curtains and beach chairs across the island.

Even the tableware carries the same intention. At the restaurant the plates were hand-painted by local artists, fragments of memorabilia from the village. In the indoor spa lounge, the tempo shifts,- lower light, elegance, purity, chairs that let you sink in between swims.

The materials are all deliberate: local stone in a soft sand tone, forged iron drawn in clean lines. A classic reinvented
