Cala Jondal

(These projects were completed during the professional careers of Tille and Oro del Negro prior to the establishment of del Negro Studio. They are presented as part of the founders’ professional archive.)

Some projects begin with a moodboard

Others begin with sculptural Sabina trees, feet in the sand, hunger

Casa Jondal was never meant to be just a beach restaurant,

Victor, Rem, Rafa, Oro and I wanted a Chiriguito

A Classic

That place that becomes the highlight of your summer memory

A place people remember with all five senses

We designed a place where the breeze moves through the space as naturally as the service

Where a meal feels like a soft ritual

Where the edges are rounded, the Bogavante melts in your mouth, the lounges are low

Material decisions were made like seasoning,- precise, never overdone, complimentary, the ingredients being the star

Subtraction rather than adding

Naturally aged wood, local clay, food made on fire, the sea, straw, soft sand, crisp wino, shade

Years later, it’s still one of the best beach restaurants in the world

I believe because we didn’t chase trends

We chased atmosphere
