Ca'n Teix

Perched above the Cala de Deià, Can Teix is a family home shaped through layers of texture and tactility.

Stone, lime, timber, primal materials given over to a vocabulary of curves and voids. Interiors are not decorated so much as shaped into inhabitable sculpture, where walls thicken into niches, beds grow from rock, and sofas bend as continuations of plaster.

Colour is never simply colour but material; pigment in the fabrics, oxide in clay, the patina of the timber. Nothing feels flat. Every wall and fabric carries a texture; a universe of materiality.  You don’t look at Can Teix so much as read it by hand, tracing the grain of its surfaces.

Furniture establishes the rhythm of living. Our dining table in local reclaimed oak gathers family at its centre,- boards weathered and timeworn, their grain a record of use. The Mogensen Spanish Chairs holds court at the chess table with masculine clarity, while the Muga; our a vernacular-inspired armchair sits low and generous,- reinterpreting Catalan tradition in solid oak. Coffee tables read as sculpture,- rounded slabs set on cylindrical bases, monumental yet softened, holding light like water-smoothed stones. Archival pieces and our designs converse easily,- united by material truth rather than era.

Can Teix is an argument for detail without ornament. A house where softness is not applied, but carved, dyed, or woven directly into the structure of daily life
